Who’s invited? – The long answer
We primarily target university students from the Netherlands and Belgium, (students who depend on braille) and need to deal with statistics and/or mathematics as part of their studies. This includes traditional areas of science such as computer science, mathematics and physics, as well as any other subject involving significant statistical research (such as psychology) and subjects involving the use of mathematical equations (i.e. economics). What those subjects have in common is that blind students trying to succeed in these subjects face unique challenges. They are required to learn large amounts of advanced tools, while the teachers, lecturers etc. supporting them often lack the familiarity with these tools to help a blind student succeed.
We also invite professionals (from universities, resource centers and any other organization involved in supporting blind science students). Our event is a unique venue to learn how you can support blind science students and also enables professionals to meet and learn from other professionals and experienced blind science students to exchange practical tips in an informal setting.
We primarily target Dutch and Belgian participants but our program is in English and will feature international speakers, so people from other countries are more than welcome to join us. We’ll be happy to assist you arrange your travel and stay. Our event is also open to students or professionals in non-academic higher education (E.G. Dutch
) and students in the later years of pre-academic education (E.G. Dutch
Bovenbouw VWO met een natuur – of economieprofiel).
